Case Study: Porter Pharmacy
Porter Pharmacy have more than ten branches operating all over Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to support and assist customers with their individual healthcare requirements. Watson Alarms have a long association with Porter Pharmacy and have been supporting Andy Porter for more than 10 years predominantly with Intruder Alarm and CCTV Systems. Over the years the number of branches has increased as Porter Pharmacy has grown and expanded opening more sites across the City and Shire.
The most recent addition to Porter Pharmacy is a Hub and Clinic facility in Portlethen. Watson Alarms were contacted very early in the planning process to provide a multi-discipline installation covering Fire Alarm, Intruder Alarm, CCTV and Facial Recognition Systems for the site.
To ensure the proposed system design met Andy Porter`s expectations whilst also complying with the building standards requirements we worked alongside the Architect, Ron MacGregor of MacGregor Garrow, and the local authority Building Control officer for guidance and approval.
Once Porter Pharmacy accepted responsibility for the building and high value assets were due to be installed at the site, we were asked to provide some temporary security provision until the full and final planning application was approved for the project.
With all the `hard work` done and full planning permission secured the `easy` element of the installation commenced with a typical construction phased programme of installing the cable network. As the project progressed and the building started to take shape Watson Alarms engineers were back on site during the early months of this year to progress onto the second fix `fit out` stage. Finally, as we entered into the second quarter of 2026 the final testing and commissioning of all systems were completed.
On completion of the handover and training of the systems with the Client, the operations and maintenance manual including all required certification was presented to Andy Porter and Ron MacGregor. This was used to support the final submission to the Building Control Officer to secure the Approval Certificate to allow the facility to be fully open for business.
