The Davron Hotel is a beautifully understated traditional old Scottish House, believed to date back to the lates 1800s, located in the traditional fishing village of Rosehearty. Privately owned and run by David and Sharon Watt for over 10 years.
The Davron Hotel is situated in the heart of the local community and offers a fully licensed public bar (the `local` for many nearby residents), a large 80 seat restaurant which can also be used as a function room as well as the accommodation offering 8 ensuite hotel rooms.
As a long-established intruder alarm customer, including a successful system upgrade last year, Watson Alarms were the easy choice for David Watt to contact in relation to the Fire Alarm System. The Client wanted the system to be taken over by Watson Alarms and we arranged for one of our Engineers to visit site and carryout a full 100% operational check of the system in compliance with BS5839 Part 1:2017 and investigate a fault which had recently appeared.
On completion of the visit the Engineer reported back that the system design provided good overall coverage of the building, the actions required to bring the system back to full operational status and a number of factors that he identified during his visit which prompted him to recommend an upgrade of the system.
Watson Alarms recognize the current economic hardship all Clients are facing with the cost-of-living crisis and in this case the ongoing struggles of businesses in the hospitality sector to `balance the books` after the COVID pandemic. With his in mind, we provided the Client with a couple of options highlighting works which should be considered as urgent to get the system back to full functionality in line with the original design specification and as an alternative the full system hardware replacement to extend the expected lifespan of the system for many years to come.
Further to receiving the Engineers report and proposal, Watson Alarms followed this up with a telecom with David to run through the details and the `pros and cons` of both options. Having considered the options, and having already budgeted for investment in the Fire Alarm System, David decided to go with the full upgrade of hardware to minimise future inconvenience to the customers through faults/false alarms and unexpected costs for callouts/repairs.
On receipt of the signed commercial documents an installation date was agreed.
The Engineers attended site on the agreed dates and the replacement of the Fire Alarm System was completed within the agreed timescale whilst applying a sympathetic and flexible approach to present minimum disruption to the business and to the Customer`s patrons.
Once the commissioning was completed a full handover and demonstration/training session was held with the Client to ensure they were completely satisfied and fully conversant with the system’s functionality and operation.
Please contact Watson Alarms if you need advice on how to ensure your system complies and/or give us an opportunity to quote for your Fire Alarm System requirements whether it be domestic and commercial we provide the same high level of customer service. Watson Alarms want to secure and keep new Clients for many years to come!
